Back to Bentonia - Jimmy “Duck” Holmes
Inaugural CD produced by Broke and Hungry Records. Most tracks were recorded at the historic Blue Front Café in Downtown Bentonia, Mississippi.

    Tracks:
    1. I'd Rather Be the Devil
    2. Cool Water
    3. Hurry, Hurry, Hurry
    4. Count the Days I’m Gone
    5. Vicksburg Blues
    6. Six Little Puppies
    7. Mr. Taxi Driver
    8. Duck’s Shuffle
    9. Hard Times
    10. Back to Bentonia
    11. Your Buggy Don’t Ride Like Mine
    12. Jimmy “Duck” Holmes – guitar and vocals
      Bud Spires – harmonica (tracks 1, 4 and 11), vocals (track 11)
      Sam Carr – drums (tracks 2, 5 and 8)

Drawing from the same well as the late great Jack Owens, Bentonia’s Jimmy “Duck” Holmes evokes the dry, ghostly sounds of his mentor. But after conjuring Jack’s spirit, Holmes develops his own personality—ethereal, stark and emotional. I’ve never been to Bentonia, but whatever’s in the water there, whatever’s haunting the grounds at night, whatever gave the place its historical power, clearly lives on in these recordings.
